For almost 10 hours in the jungle following their movements, habits, games and resting with them, you let go of US$250 per person. While Chimpanzee tracking, where you spend one hour with a habituated chimp group, you pay US$200. Compared to gorilla trekking permit of US$600, that’s quite affordable.
But, what is chimp habituation experience?
Chimp habituation experience is that activity where travellers are allowed to join researchers (By the Uganda Wildlife Authority) on their day’s quest to habituate a chimpanzee group in their natural habitat by following the chimp group throughout their daily routines, from break of dawn when the wake to the end of day when they build their nests and retire for the day.
One does not only stop and seeing and photographing chimps, but he/she participates in all activities involved in habituating our closest relatives the chimps. A whole day of such experience is definitely worth doing on your Uganda safari.
