This Uganda gorilla and other primates walking safari is the optimal of an African walking safari vacation for many adventurous travelers in search of an in-depth and closer to nature experience. At the start of this gorilla and other Primates Safari, You will drive northwest through Luwero and Masindi towns to Murchison Falls national park; the biggest National Park in Uganda, You will have a stopover at the top of the Falls where you will see the Nile’s beauty perfected as the whole mighty Nile squeezes through a 7-metre canyon dropping 150 metres with a thunderous roar, creating a beautiful rainbow. Proceed to your lodge. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge or Pakuba lodge
Early morning game safari on the northern bank. Your guide will help you spot elephant, lion, cape buffalo, Roth child’s giraffe, Uganda Kob, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. After lunch, go for a boat cruise upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the bottom of the falls. Here you can spot hippos and crocodiles in the water and elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob on shores as they come to drink the water. This is also the zone of many bird species like goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. After the boat ride return back to the lodge for relaxation. Overnight Paraa Lodge or Pakuba lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, our safari takes us to Kibale national park with numerous stopovers for pictures like tea plantations and different species of monkeys in kibale forest. Monkeys like the Black and white plus the red collobus, Uganda Red tailed, Valvet, Blue and L’hoests monkey, grey cheeked mangabey among others are sometimes encoutered along the road. After breakfast we visit Kibale Forest National Park, which is famous for its variety of primates and highest concentration of chimpanzees in Uganda and East Africa. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of chimpanzees and other primates like the Uganda red-tailed monkey, black and white colobus, L’hoest monkey, Red colobus monkey and many others. Afternoon go for bigodi swamp walk in search of more monkeys and birds or go for Crater hike
Morning after breakfast depart for Semliki national park for the nature walk in the semliki forest in search of different species of monkeys and birds. The walk takes up to the hot springs categorized as male and female hot springs. You will crown the day in the pygmy villages located near the Ituri Rainforest. The visit to the villages has proven to be an interesting cultural experience with the community. Return to the lodge. Dinner and over night at mountains of the moon hotel or Rwenzori view guest house
Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park the second biggest national park in Uganda. Along the way if the weather is clear,you can have a view the ranges of legendary and mystical mountains of the moon also known as the Rwenzori Mountains. Continue to Mweya peninsula for the boat cruise on the Kazinga channel. On the way the peninsula you may see animals like elephant, leopard, buffalo, and a variety of antelope species. Enjoy the unique 2-hour boat safari on the Kazinga Channel into Lake Edward. This boat cruise takes you through an area with possibly the highest concentration of hippos in Uganda and Africa at large. This boat cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful with well over 600 resident species. Visit the nearby Kyambura Gorge to track the chimpanzees, one of man’s closest relatives. The chimp population is very small and some times mobile however tracking them is the most enriching experience. The walk in this “lost world” is nevertheless enchanting. In the afternoon go for a nature walk in the Maramagambo Forest. This forest harbors some unusual Primate species -red-tailed and L’Hoest’s Monkey, potto, giant forest hog, pygmy antelope, and giant elephant shrew. Also visit the bat caves and the blue lake. Overnight Enganzi lodge or Parkview lodge.
Morning after breakfast,you will head for early game drive in Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth national park in search of animals like lions, hynas,leopards, kobs, elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks and much more. After transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park through the southeastern part of the park of ishasha for the short game drive in search of the tree climbing lions. After the game drive proceed to bwindi impenetrable national park
DAY 10: GORILLA TRACKING AND CULTURAL WALK
In the morning after breakfast, go the the park office for briefing and there after emback on hiking in the impenetrable in search of the mountain gorilla. After tracking returned back to the lodge for relaxation. Afternoon go for a culture walk visiting communities that neighbour the park especially the pygmy villages
DAY 11, TRANSFER TO LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK
Morning after breakfast, you will transfer to lake mburo national park. You will have an evening game drive in search of animals like giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, waterbucks, elands, topics, impalas, waterhogs,baboons and much more. Overnight at Rwokobo rock lodge, Eagle’s nest lodge.
DAY 12: NATURE WALK AND TRANSFER TO ENTEBBE
Early morning, you will have a nature walk with the ranger to get a close encounter of the animals on foot. This activity is only possible here in lake mburo national park since it lacks big cats that can be dangerous to humans walking on foot. After the walk return back the lodge for breakfast and transfer back to Entebbe
