ITINERARY

Day 1: Kigali City Tour And Transfer To Volcanoes National Park

Morning after breakfast go a city tour. Here we shall visit Gisozi genocide museum, Nyamata and Ntarama genocide sites and some city markets. Break for lunch, after transfer to Volcanoes national park. Davinci lodge

Day 2: Hike to Diana Fossey’s grave or optional gorilla tracking

Morning after breakfast, assemble at the park headquarters for briefing and after hike to Diana fossey’s grave. Afternoon go for a cultural tour to learn about the culture and history of Rwanda at the gorilla guardian village. Alternatively you can go for an option gorilla tracking which costs 1500$ per person per tracking. This activity starts with briefing about gorilla tracking does and don’ts, you will then embark on your gorilla trekking experience in the volcanoes national park. Volcanoes national park is 160km2 national park that protects the Rwanda sector of the Virunga Mountains, a range of six extinct and three active volcanoes which stand across the common border of Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Gorilla tracking is a highly controlled activity with limited gorilla tracking permits available each day. The tracking can be strenuous and may reach altitudes of 3000m above sea level. The walk will be slippery and the paths are never defined but the end result is one you will forever cherish. To stand within close proximity of these amazing primates is a truly emotional but memorable experience. To gaze into their liquid-brown eyes is so breathtaking. Because of high cost of Rwandan gorilla permit (1500$pp),we have made this activity optional. Those who might opt for it will have to pay for it separately.

Day 3: Golden Monkey tracking – Rwanda

Morning after breakfast, we shall get back to the park headquarters and proceed for the Golden Monkey tracking which is listed as endangered by the world conservation union. This is another thrilling activity for visitors. Trekking these habituated primates takes between 3 – 4 hours. The other special thing with these monkeys is that they are only found within the Albertine rift which covers Uganda’s Mgahinga, Rwanda’s VNP, and Congo’s Virunga national parks. Getting close to this primates is another thrilling encounter. After trekking return back to the lodge for dinner and over night stay

Day 4: Transfer to Congo through Rusizi Board to the town of Bukavu

You will transfer to Congo town of Bukavu through Rusizi boarder. Depending on the time of arrival, you can make a Bakavu city tour. Overnight at Orchids safari club

Day 5: Lowland gorilla trekking in kahuzi Biega national park

In the morning, you will head for the memorable adventure if tracking the lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega national park. Lowland gorillas differ from mountain gorillas in that they are bigger in size and stay in bigger families. The tracking usually takes 1 – 4 hours. After tracking you will return back to Bukavu and for rest at your lodge. Overnight Orchids safari

Day 6: Transfer to Goma Town

Early morning, you will be picked from your hotel ferry which will take you to Coma town (about 2hrs ride). On arrival, you will check in with the virunga national park office and proceed to Coma for a city tour. Overnight at Kibumba Tented Camp

Day 7: Virunga Mountain Gorilla Tracking

After breakfast, you will leave for your gorilla tracking experience in the virunga national park. After encountering them you will be amazed by their huge size but gentle nature as they go about their daily business with mothers attending to their young ones and juveniles making an effort to impress. You will stay for one hour maximum and head back to the camp

Day 8: Nyiragongo Hike

Morning after breakfast proceed to park headquarters. You will meet your ranger guide and porter and begin your hike. Meals will be provided and you will stay in a banda at the top of the volcano

Day 9: Descend nyiragongo

After breakfast, start down hill walk where you will reach down at around 11am. Proceed to Grande Barriers to start your journey back to Kigali
