Mountain Hiking

Mountain Rwenzori is the largest block mountain range in Africa and one where you can enjoy mountain hiking while in Uganda. Located in western Uganda, it takes about 8 days to reach the peak. Mountain Elgon is located in Eastern Uganda and is one of the very few exciting volcanoes in Uganda. It has one of the largest calderas in Uganda and may take three to four days to reach the peak. Uganda Wildlife Authority is in charge of hiking and trekking services and we can help you put together a mountain hiking trip if contacted.

In the south western part of Uganda boarding Rwanda and Congo lies three volcanic mountains that are part of the virunga volcano chains and very exciting to hike. Any of the three volcanoes may take you from one to two days to reach the peak and for those interested in combining mountain gorillas with volcano hiking, this is the place to be.
