After breakfast, transfer to Fort Portal with a stop over for lunch en-route. Relax at your hotel in the afternoon. As we transfer there will be numerous stopovers in search for various African primate species like the Black and white collobus, the red collobus, Uganda Red tailed, Varvet, Blue and L’hoests monkey, grey cheeked mangabey among others. Kibale Forest is home to about 13 primate species, making it the most diversely endowed tropical forest in Uganda, Africa and perhaps the whole world, most of which are diurnal and a few nocturnal species. After Breakfast go for chimpanzee tracking. This African primate safari with both chimp and gorilla tracking will also let you see other primates including l’hoestes, red colobus, blue red tailed and gray cheeked mangabey. Depart Fort Portal in the morning after breakfast and go through Uganda’s beautiful scenic areas which will produce the scenic views of the Mountains of the moon- among the highest in Uganda. Have a stop over at the Equator en-route. Proceed to the second largest National Park in Uganda – Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving in time for lunch. After lunch proceed for an optional evening game drive where you can choose either to do the crater drive or a game safari in search of savanna wildlife. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight if staying at Mweya Safari or else check in at Kasenyi Safari Camp, Enganzi Lodge or Kingfisher Safari Resort.
After an early Breakfast we’ll go for a morning game safari in the Park. Expect to see the famous Big Four; African Elephant, Buffalo, Lion and Leopard on lucky mornings. expect antelopes like the Bush and Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, Giant forest hog, Hyenas, do not undermine the skies as they are a great habitat of several large bird species and the beautiful Euphobia which at times house the elusive Leopard. In the afternoon we’ll take a launch cruise along the amazing Kazinga channel and you will appreciate the scores of Hippos, Buffaloes, and Crocodiles close to the waterside. There is a variety of bird species and other migratory species ranging from the small kingfishers to great Pelicans and Giant herons. later in the evening Embark on a game safari looking for Elephants, Lions, Buffalo, Bush Buck as we drive back late in the evening, we keep our spot lights in the open looking out for nightjars and other nocturnal mammals like the Leopard, Serval Cat and much more.
Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest where the gorilla lives by driving through the ‘Switzerland of Africa an area known as Kigezi Highlands with its terraced hillside and winding roads. Pass through Ishasha where if lucky we shall have an opportunity to see the tree climbing lions or take the alternative route through the cultivated area. Go for gorilla tracking walking up steeply in the dense rain forest through different trails crisscrossed by animals allowing access to tourists. Gorilla tracking is an inspiring and wonderful adventure for any African safari which one can’t afford to miss. The Gorillas are peaceful animals and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact.
After breakfast, we drive to Lake Mburo National Park. After a wonderful encounter with these Uganda large primates – the Gorillas, we shall enter lake Mburo with game safari today which might enable us to see the zebras, topis, elands, impalas, buffaloes etc. Dinner and overnight at Rwakobo Rock Lodge, Eagle’s nest lodge, Mihingo lodge or Arcadia Cottages.
After an early morning breakfast, we transfer to Kampala, a stop over at Mpambire Royal Drum Makers where we shall be able to have a view of the ceremonial drums being crafted using methods passed down through the generations.
